What will you learn?

The AHC20122 Certificate III in Agriculture is delivered both on and off the job in a partnership arrangement between Longerenong College, businesses and participating schools and normally takes two years to complete. The aim of the program is to provide participants with skills in a range of industries which will lead on to further study or will enhance opportunities for employment in a range of industries including intensive animal production, broadacre cropping and agribusiness. As a part of our Agriculture package we also include a selection of specialised skills units giving students a bonus pack of units at the conclusion of their course.

Program Delivery

This program is a completion of the certificate over two years.

Work Placement

Students are required to work in a farm setting every second Wednesday and are encouraged to undertake a further placement once a week.

Clothing & Equipment

Australian standards AS2210.3 class 1 work boots comprising of safety toe and a sole that is resistant to most oils, acids and chemicals; long work pants for safety purposes; hi-vis work shirt; pens, a grey lead pencil and writing exercise book; waterproof jacket

Materials Fee

Paid for by Department of Education for Government students. Independent and Catholic students to discuss with your school VET Co-ordinator

Sheep in Field

Accreditation 

Contribution towards VCE: VM 

A Certificate II or above VET course is mandatory for students studying VCE-VM. 180 nominal hours or above equals two VET credits.

 

Contribution towards VPC

Every 90 nominal hours of VET equals one unit of credit.

 

Contribution towards VCE

Recognition of up to four VCE VET units at Units 1 and 2 level, and VCE VET unit 3-4 sequence.

 

ATAR Contribution

Students who receive a VCE VET Unit 3-4 sequence will be eligible for an increment towards their ATAR (10% of the lowest study score of the primary four studies.

National Accreditation
