What Will You Learn?

This program aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills and competency that will enhance your training and employment prospects in the equine or
equine related industries. This program can support a pathway to employment in
different sectors of the industry in roles such as stablehands or stud hands, or further study in a range of equine or equine related qualifications in horse breeding,
sport or racing.

Program Delivery

Delivered over two years

Location: : Longerenong College &/or  Ballarat Skillinvest

Contact Days/Hours : Every Wednesday 9.30am to 3.00pm

Program commencement is subject to enrolment numbers.

Workplacement 

A minimum of 40 hours work placement is recommended by the Victorian Curriculum Assessment Authority.

Further information will be provided upon induction.

Select fees to be paid by DE for students attending public schools.  Independent and Catholic schools will discuss fees with their families.

Accreditation 

Contribution towards VCE: VM 

It is mandated that students studying VCE: VM complete 180 hours of a VET course in a Certificate II or above.  This will contribute 2 VET credits towards a student’s program.

Contribution towards VPC

Students studying VPC may choose to include a VET program, however it is not mandated

Contribution towards VCE

Students will be eligible for two or more units at Units 1 and 2 level and a Units 3 and 4 sequence.

ATAR Contribution

Students wishing to receive an ATAR contribution for VCE VET Equine Studies Program Unit 3-4 Sequence must undertake scored assessment for th epurpose of achieving a study score. This study score can contribute directly to ATAR as one of student's best four studies or as an increment towards their ATAR (10 per cent of the fourth study score of the primary four studies).

Where a student elects not to receive a study score for a Unit 3-4 sequence, no contribution to the ATAR will be available.
